Plantar warts in Children: What You Need to Know

Warts are quite common in children. Children are more likely to develop them than adults. Warts are nothing to worry about. However, you should know how to deal with them.

The pain of walking or standing can be excruciating for your child if they have a plantar wart on their bottom.

Whenever you see a wart on your child's foot, please contact All-In-One Foot Care Center right away.

How to treat plantar warts in children?

When your child complains that their feet hurt or feel that something is in their shoes, check their feet for plantar warts. A plantar wart is a small, rough growth on the bottom of the foot, with little black dots around it.

Many warts disappear on their own without treatment.

If it is causing your child discomfort or embarrassment when walking with it, we can remove it.

As opposed to other warts that can be treated at home or with over-the-counter medications, ours cannot be used on the bottom of the feet due to the thick skin. As a result, plantar warts aren't frozen in our office.

Additionally, we avoid removing warts because we do not want to bother your child or take them off their feet when they are enjoying sports.

Peeling treatments can remove plantar warts. The right peeling agent will be recommended based on your child's needs.

In general, parents shouldn't worry too much about warts. However, if your child worries about them, Dr. Arshia Roohian can help.

Aside from ensuring your child is comfortable with his or her wart, we can help you come up with a plan to deal with it. For example, shoes with cushioning and thicker socks can ease the pain your child feels.

Getting plantar warts is contagious.

It is also important to note that plantar warts are contagious because they are caused by viruses. Make sure your child wears shoes when they are in damp places where the virus could thrive.

Keep your child's feet clean and dry in order to prevent the wart from spreading.

You should seek medical attention if your child has a plantar wart.
