Heel Pain at Work and at Home: How to Prevent It

In addition to the fact that heel pain can have a number of possible root causes, it affects people of all ages. Plantar fasciitis is most commonly associated with heel pain in adults, but Achilles tendinitis, calcaneal fractures, and Sever's disease (for adolescents and preteens) can also cause it.

Aside from anatomy, the plantar fascia and the Achilles tendon connect the heel bone to other parts of the lower extremities, which may contribute to heel pain.

No matter how it occurs, heel pain can make your life challenging at work or at home.

You're not done yet! In most cases, heel pain doesn't require surgical intervention. In some cases, it can even be prevented through preventive measures.

In other words, lowering your Achilles tendinitis risk also lowers your risk of plantar fasciitis, which is one of the side effects of preventing one source of heel pain.

For heel pain prevention and injury prevention, follow these steps:

Shoes should be worn properly. In order to avoid painful heels, you should wear the right footwear when you plan to participate in any physical activity. If your shoes are too tight or too large, you will suffer from painful heels. Additionally, your shoes should cradle your heels snugly and allow you to wiggle your toes as well as support your arch.

Start with easy-to-moderate activity and increase it by 10% each week. This prevents heel pain that occurs when patients start new activities at too high an intensity or duration.

Stretching is more effective when you warm up first for a few minutes before stretching. You should warm up and stretch before exercising or engaging in physical activity. Your feet, ankles, and calves should be cared for.
